As one of the leading trade show organisers and venue operators in Europe, Easyfairs organises 200 events in 14 countries. Easyfairs is a pan-European company, organised into 5 regional hubs: Belgium, the Netherlands, Nordics, DACH and UK & Global. Our headquarters are in Brussels, and we have 20 offices in Europe employing 700 talented individuals. Over the past two years of COVID crisis, the exhibition industry has transitioned towards ‘hybrid’ events, seamlessly mixing face-to-face and 365-day online communities. As one of the technology leaders in the industry, Easyfairs has built a strong Tech team that often develop their own solutions for the specific challenges of our industry. One of the main areas of development at Easyfairs for the past four years has been Data Intelligence.

The role

The role is within Easyfairs HQ Tech Team which is in charge of providing the complete technology platform for the whole group across Europe. You would be reporting to the Group Chief Technology Officer.

As Head of Data Intelligence, you will manage a team of Data Scientists, Engineers and Analysts who are responsible for:

• Easyfairs’ Data Aggregation Platform which fulfills the role of Data Lake and data exchange platform for all the applications within Easyfairs’ ecosystem.
• A.I. algorithms development covering various aspects like predicting attendance, optimising sales cycles, recommending products and people to attendees, etc.
• Easyfairs’ reporting and dashboarding platform, called EasyInsights.

But you will also have a strong strategic role to fulfill: the emergence of online community platforms around the live events dramatically increases both the volume, the quality and the importance of data collection and usage. The opportunities for creating new products, improving the customer experience and make the business more data-driven have never been so high. As such, you will need to be able to comprehend the business and its strategy, transforming its needs into solutions and discover and test new opportunities in the changing landscape of the event industry. The role is based in Brussels and allows a hybrid working mode with flexible home office days.

About you

For this role, we are looking for someone with a strong technical background who is able to keep abreast of the latest technology trends, but also someone with a business-oriented mind who can not only find new opportunities and ideas but also have a constructive relationship with the rest of the business to propose the best solutions to their challenges.

Ideally, we want you to be able to demonstrate:

• Relevant experience in the area of Data Intelligence or Data Science
• A good knowledge if the main tools used at Easyfairs, like GCP (BigQuery and VertexAI), dbt, Airflow, Fivetran and FastAPI
• Strong people management skills
• The ability to work on many projects in parallel
• A willingness to keep learning both about technology and about the business
• A solution-oriented approach
• The ability to explain complex technology solutions to non-technical people
• Ability to give trainings and presentations both online and in our local offices across Europe
• A taste for fast-paced action and an agile mindset
• Be team-minded and, as such, display a willingness to step up and help your colleagues whenever necessary to get faster to our goals
• A good level of English
